A week of "firsts"

Last week was a week of "firsts" around the house. Caroline, you were old enough this summer to take a week of dance camp!!! You were sooo excited. During the school year every single week, we would get Caitlyn ready for her dance practice. You INSISTED that you, too, needed to wear a leotard and tutu--even though you weren't in a class. You would line up with Caitlyn's class and say "hi" to her teacher, then jump back out of line to hang out with me for the hour. Then, you were always the first to greet the class when they were done and say "goodbye" to "Miss" Krista. So.......when we walked up those stairs this last week, you were just beside yourself to ACTUALLY be going in class all by yourself. Caitlyn was the one to stay with me this time while we waited on you. Here you are in your outfit (which you slept in the night before!!!) ready to go. Standing in line, ready to learn, with your other classmates.

Caitlyn, your big "first" was finally going under water when you swim. You have been able to get around the pool without floaties, but you dogpaddled everywhere and would NOT go under. You somewhat panicked every time water got in your eyes. Like most other "firsts"in the past, you have had to be the one to decide when the time was right. One day this week, you just did it. You were sooooooo proud of yourself (and so were we) and have told just about every person we have seen or talked to that you are in fact "really" swimming. By the end of the week, you were already opening your eyes and swimming to the bottom to grab diving sticks!!! When you finally decide to do something, you do it all the way!

Here is my attempt at getting you in the act.

Congratulations, Caitlyn, on such a great accomplishment in swimming! It took me a LONG time before I was comfortable going under water (I think I was 10!).

Caroline looks adorable in her dance outfit!

Why didn't you teach her how to dance Maryann?? You have moves that I have never seen before. ;)
