May- Loved ones!!!

This month held lots of moments with loved ones...whether that was saying goodbye, saying hello or keeping traditions...we thank God for having loved ones to share life with. Caroline, your pet fish Pebbles died after living with us for almost 6 months. We had a little funeral and buried him behind the playground.

Well, we didn't rest long after we got back from Disney before doing something memorable!!

Caitlyn, you have wanted to get your ears pierced for such a long time, but our rule was you needed to be 8. So...my big eight year old..you were "itching" to get to it as soon as we got home from our trip. We called our good friend, Claire, and headed to Divas and Dudes!! Checking out your lobes....

Caitlyn, you have gotten so into reading and I LOVE IT!!! You learn so much knowledge from reading. You are choosing books about mermaids, friends, and mysteries.

We got together with family to celebrate Caitlyn one more time and to open a few presents!

We ended the month with a spring break play date with the Dyes and made Claire a cake to celebrate her 9th birthday. We love you, Claire!!!

Our FINAL day!!!!

Our final day was spent at SeaWorld! We debated on whether or not to actually go...we almost didn't because we thought we might want to hit Disney or Epcot one more time. However, I really thought you, girls, would like it because of your love of animals. We were sooo glad we made that decision and agreed it was a great way to end the trip!! I love this picture of you, Caroline!! Little flamingo.....

We should have bought these great hats...instead we just "used" them for a photo op!!

Caleb and Papa waiting on us to get wet on our favorite ride there, Journey to Atlantis. The lines were not nearly as long as at Disney, so we were able to ride it three times!!

Caleb, you were intrigued with the stingrays. We all were...such neat creatures!! The dolphins were also some of our favorite to watch.

Caleb, you really got into the shows and just clapped and clapped. It was so fun!!

It was amazing what they were able to teach the animals!!

The Killer Whale show was the last show we saw.......and it fascinated us, as all the shows did!! It was so funny seeing the people scatter as they splashed their fins and soaked a whole section of the audience.

They had a whole "younger kids" area that had smaller roller coasters and rides, a huge playground and a merry go round. We ended the day at SeaWold here and made such fun memories!

Right before we left, I noticed a lady making artwork from children's handprints. I kept walking back and forth trying to decide if I wanted to do it and finally, took the plunge. I LOVED the end result...and, as you know, do every day, as they are hanging in the hallway!

You, girls, kept the artist company while she finished the pieces. She was so sweet to you both!

Caleb had to get a little snooze in before we headed back towards Magic Kingdom to end our trip.

We had to ride Thunder Mountain one last time before heading to the Electric Light Parade!!

As night fell, we found a spot on the road where the Parade would pass by. Mimi and Papa said this was one of their favorite memories of Disney when they brought Daddy and Denise years ago. What a perfect way to end our time at Disney.

I love this picture. You can see your arm waving at Cinderella, Caroline. She is one of the first things I think of when I think of the magic of Disney. It truly was one of the most magical trips I can remember taking....I think I actually enjoyed it more as a parent than I did as a child. I can't wait to go back in five or so more years with all the BOYS!!!!

DAY SIX

Our last day all together......

After searching in many stores, Caitlyn, you finally found the Mickey ears you wanted! Very girly, of course!!!

We decide to use one of our sit down Dining meals for breakfast at Chef Mickeys. I remember when I came with my family when I was ten, eating here and enjoying getting all the character signatures. It didn't dissapoint!!

Well, hello there!!!

After eating a FULL buffet breakfast, it was off to Epcot one last time. We found Innoventions and spent several hours here. This wasn't around when Daddy and I were kiddos. It was really cool!!

This was a neat game we did several times that taught us about saving money!

Poor Caleb was in the stroller much of the trip, so because Innoventions was inside, he got to wander a bit and stretch those legs!!

When Caleb got tired of the floor, we found the WATER!!!

Saying goodbye is sooooo very hard. Mammi, Big Daddy, Amy and Mariana had to leave to get on back home for commitments. We were super sad to see them go, but oh, the fun we had together!!!

That evening, we walked around the countries of Epcot and ate at an WONDERFUL Italian restaurant. We had wonderful service. It was such a pleasant night, it wasn't long before Caleb took a snooze!

Day Five

We had so much left we still wanted to fit in...so we hopped around a lot today. We decided to start the day at Magic Kingdom...with ponchos in tow because of a rain chance. Caleb, you started making friends right off the bat. When we arrived to Magic Kingdom it was raining...we had to bundle up to stay dry and warm. Caleb, you were such a trooper!

While we waited for the rain to pass, we found some friends!! The Frog Prince and Princess Tiana!

When the rain finally passed, there were NO LINES and we rode Splash Mountain three times! We even got Papa on this time.

Then we found Fairy Godmother...

.....and took a nap!

On our way out, we listened to some cool stories from Peter Pan.

We took the monorail over to Epcot for some more late afternoon fun!

Caitlyn, you really enjoyed this ride. It was very informative about our Planets history. We didn't get pictures, but we were brave and rode Soarin and Test Track.

That night, we had reservations in Mexico at St. Angel's. We had quite a long wait, so Caleb gave us a drum concert!

Another great meal to end another great day!

Day Four

We got another later start today...it's hard getting 11 people ready to go!! We started at Hollywood Studios this morning because we knew it wouldn't take us more than a few hours to see the things we were interested in.

We found some "familiar faces" as soon as we arrived....

You girls were so excited to play on the "Honey, I shrunk the kids" playground. We rented the movie before the trip so you could have a better idea of the fun of this area! I remember watching that movie as a teenager!

And we had to find some boy toys for you, buddy!!

We knew we wanted to see the "Beauty and the Beast" show. We heard it was wonderful and got there extra early to get good seats. Mammi took a little nap while we waited.......

It really was such a wonderful show and was worth the wait!!!

After leaving Hollywood, we had a little time to swim. Caleb and I joined the crew this time...but only for a few minutes...the water was still too cold for me!!

Here we are in another mode of Disney's transportation..the monorail. This was your favorite way to travel, girls. I also remember loving it when I went to Disney as a little girl.

Caleb rests up before our FAVORITE meal on the trip...OHANA Steakhouse in the Polynesian Resort. The food was AMAZING (the sweet bread was a huge hit!!) and the atmosphere was so fun...full of dancing, games, and fireworks ( we were able to see them from INSIDE the restaurant-the best view according to you, Caroline!).

The leis were a special treat, too!!!

Day Three

This was my favorite day! I think because we took our time and did not "overplan" the day. We slept in a little bit and got a later start at Animal Kingdom. We knew the Safari ride got busy quickly, so we headed straight to it and got on with a relatively short wait. It was well worth it and you, girls, said you would do it again if we had had the time.

The animals all seemed to be out and we got some great shots!

I loved getting to focus on you all the whole week. It was amazing how happy we all were and you, girls, got along sooo well. I wish that would have come home with us!! :) I'll take it any chance I can, though!!!

The "Tree of Life". This was absolutely amazing. It had characters carved in the bark everywhere...you could stand at it and look for several minutes and keep seeing different ones. It was awesome. Inside it was a hilarious show..."A Bug's Life!" We all loved it!!

It got very hot, very quickly that day. Our ice cream treat kept us cool!

Caleb had to catch a quick snooze...in the shade!

The Lion King show was my very favorite!! I could have sat and watched it all day. The costumes, the dancing and singing were wonderful!!

This was your typical position, Caroline, during most shows...there were often loud parts and you were ready and prepared!!! You will laugh at this one day!!

We cooled off on Khali River Rapids...(reminded us "old people" of Opryland's Grizzly River Rampage) before heading back to the hotel to rest. We used our fast pass for this one and got right on!!!

Caleb was "done" at this point and needed a good nap at the hotel....

After a rest, we took a ferry over to the Wilderness Campground for a Dinner show called the Hoopty Doo Review. You girls weren't crazy about the food (although the adults were...), but you really loved the show!

We all got to make music on washboards at the end!!! The actors did a great job of involving the audience!!

Even Caleb enjoyed the show and did a lot of clapping!!

We headed back to the hotel and went to bed early for an early start the next morning at Hollywood Studios.

DISNEY DAY TWO

Well, this is how most days began...Caleb was always up early, so by the time we got to a park, he was ready for his morning nap. Daddy was always very willing to "wear" him during the cooler part of the day. Our first night there, Caleb cried for three straight hours (and I was worried this was going to be a LONG week!), but thankfully, that was just a one night event! Every night after you slept hard and all night long! Woohoo!! We chose to start at Magic Kingdom again and began in Future World...riding Astro Orbiter and the Buzz Light Year ride (Caleb even got on that one) because of the short lines!

Everywhere we walked, there was something to see and do. Disney really knows what they are doing!!!

Some friends suggested we take two stollers. I wasn't sure we would need them...but we DID!!! You girls rode in them just as much as Caleb did!!

Riding Splash Mountain for the first time. This ended up being one of your very favorite rides the whole week. We even tricked Papa into getting on it!!

Mid day we were tired and luckily, the train had enough spots for us to ride back to the entrance of the park. Ah, a break!!!

On the way out, you girls found some hoola hoops and joined in the fun!!! Did I mention there was always something to see or do!? Ha!!

Late afternoon, Caleb and I and Mimi and Papa took a rest, while Big Daddy, Mammi and Daddy took you girls to the pool. Yes, it was warm enough in Februaury to swim!! That's Florida for you!

This is Daddy going from our hotel at Pop Century to Epcot that night on the bus. This is the way we traveled to and from most places all week. Most trips were not this spacious....we typically were crammed in like sardines with one of us holding Caleb on our laps. We were usually so tired and glad to be sitting down that it didn't bother us that much!

This night was one of our favorites the whole time we were there. It was your 8th birthday, Caitlyn, and so we celebrated it BIG at Akershus Castle at Epcot. You girls wanted to dress up for the meal. Each of you chose your own outfit before we left on the trip at home. You couldn't wait to meet the princesses!!!

Belle greeted us as we arrived (check out your expressions!). You were in awe most of the night!! Of course, you brought your character books for thier signatures.

I love this picture...Belle is one of Mariana's favorites. So precious...

Sleeping Beauty was so friendly..she spent a lot of time just talking with us at our table. You girls could hardly eat out of excitement!

So much for this prince....

Cinderella is still my very favorite....it really was a fairytale night!!!

Snow White...we never did see her seven dwarfs. They must have been enjoying the amazing buffet!!!

And Ariel....Caitlyn's favorite....you were hoping she would be in her mermaid tail!!

The meal WAS really amazing...Caleb thought so, too. Stealing some of Papa's mashed potatoes!!

And the CAKE...the princesses prepared it just for you, Caitlyn, with a card signed by all of them. We went on and on about how good it was...it was almost like a custard. What a precious way to celebrate your 8th birthday, sweetie!

After dinner, we stayed for Epcot's Illumination Laser Show. It was beautiful!! (Although it was loud, which made it scary for you, Caroline!) Caleb got a great seat and enjoyed pulling Daddy's hair in the process!!!

This is becoming a trend, huh?

We interrupt this monthly update for...............DISNEY DAYS!!! February 25th-March 2

DAY ONE

Well...the time was finally here!! We had been counting down the days since Christmas in anticipation. You two were sooo excited!! You had been wanting to go to Disneyworld for years. We decided this was the best time to go since the princesses are still fascinating to you both (and may not be much longer) AND because Caleb is not walking yet! When we told family what we were thinking, everyone wanted to go! Camille, Wes and Price weren't able to go because Camille was very pregnant with baby Reed and Leoncio needed to stay and keep Josue' and work. We missed them, but vowed to take another "boys" trip in five years or so again!! Waiting and watching for "our" plane..........

Here we are on the tram at the Orlando airport headed to board our Disney bus to our hotel.

Once we arrived at Pop Century Resort, we headed for the dining room to meet Big Daddy and Mammi (who had arrived the day before). It took us awhile, but we learned all about the awesome dining plan!! We ate soooo well on the trip!

Amy and Mariana came a few hours later. Here you are, girls, mobbing Mari as she got off the bus! You hadn't seen her in 5 months....the longest you have ever gone between visits!!

So happy to be together!!!!!!!!!!!

Talking about the rest of the day............

After getting checked in, we headed on over to Magic Kingdom to "get our bearings!" It was overwhelming at first, but we all agreed that night that we were going to just go with the flow and take our time. With 11 people in the group, that was definitely the way to go to stay sane!!

As we walked down Main Street to the castle, we caught the end of a show and....fireworks. This seemed to be a trend of ours as the week progressed. As much as we all loved the fireworks, you, sweet Caroline, had a hard time with that. The noise of the fireworks still really scare you. You would crawl up in someones arms and hold your hands over your ears until it was over. One day you will enjoy them, girl!

We had heard we must ride Dumbo. So, we stood in the 4o minute line to make it happen. After this ride, we went right away to a cast member to find out about the FASTPASS!!! Boy, once we learned about those, we rarely had to wait in a line! Awesome idea on Disneys part!!

The teacups were another must do. The grandaddies were the brave ones and took you girls on this ride. All us mommies (and Daddy) just enjoyed watching. No spinning for us!!

This is just the beginning of lots of sleeping pictures. We were all exhaused by the end of the day (and sometimes in the middle of the day too!). Heading back to the hotel....for a good nights rest so we could start bright and early on Day Two!

February- Friends, "sweets" and a photo shoot!

February was such a quick month..it always is..but it went even faster as we begin to prepare for our upcoming Disney trip and count down the days!! The Dyes got to hang out with us one Friday night for several hours of pizza, movies and of course, dress up and a few funny pictures!!!

You girls got to go to Paisley's 6th Birthday party at Divas and Dudes...such a treat!!!

And, speaking of treats...look who got his first taste of ice cream!!!! YUMMY!!!!

A little reading time....

Valentines Day brought your first chocolate tasting...at Mimi and Papas...with chocolate fondue!!!

And Daddy had a sweet surprise for you, girls....roses and tickets to TAYLOR SWIFT!!! You get a Daddy/Daughter date in September!!

Here is my sweet boy. Caleb, you, Daddy and Mimi had a little photo shoot for your 8 month pictures. These are just a few of my favorites!!!

This, sadly, is the only picture we got of your Dedication Day at Otter Creek. That morning, Caitlyn ended up with strep, so Daddy and Mammi switched off taking care of her while the rest of us went to church. The morning was still so sweet and special!

January-Snowy beginning!

After the holidays, things slowed...tremendously... due to our weather!! It's always nice to have some "down time" after the busy bussle of December, but we had more than our fair share of days "happily trapped" in our house because of snow! Here is what part of our neighborhood looked like...often!! It was more snow than you girls have ever seen. You loved it!!

We also had several playdates...we miss our friends who go to different schools! You and Ashlyn created your very own snack with craisins, chocolate chips, marshmellows and cheezits!

Learning to play the piano! Caleb loved having you two home more..he misses you when you aren't home!

Caitlyn, I put this picture in because it is so YOU! What I mean by that is you are "our fashionista"!!

You have for some time now been extremely interested in creating your own outfits. This was fabric Mimi let you have that was leftover from your Halloween costume. Somehow, you turned it into this dress.......oo lala. Check out your shoes!!! Oh, mercy, we are in trouble!

The Laytons were able to make it up our driveway one snowy day. What fun memories sledding...even Kamry got out to join us!!!

Since Dandy is now gone, we were able to use the hill. Oh, what fun it was!!! We had some cold hands and feet, but it was worth it!!!

Caleb and I watched from inside and took pictures and video...hard to believe he will REALLY want to be out there next winter!!!

Sweet Sara Grace Lawrence and her family also joined us one day for some morning sledding. We have been so blessed to get to know the Lawrences!!!

Many days were spent just playing with Caleb.....here you girls are rolling cars (Daddy's old ones) back and forth with him. It kept him happy while I did something productive!

The nice thing about snow days are easing into the mornings. We spent LOTS of time in our pjs.

At the end of the month we celebrated the Dowlen January birthdays here at our house. Happy Birthday, Mimi and Ashley!!!

As I write this six weeks past January (see date above), I look back on it with peace and such sweetness at the many days you delighted in one another (even if it was short-lived!). Oh, how I will MISS these days!

Wrapping it up! December Part 2

On Christmas Eve morning we have, for the last several years, gone to Mimi and Papas for a brunch and to open gifts. It is always very anticipated!!! Tummies full and ready to open............

Caleb, it was a Cub's Christmas...my favorite gifts you got were two Cubs hats, one baseball cap and one stocking cap! Precious............

Mimi and Papa must have been talking with Santa a lot....they knew just what you had told him!!! A beautiful dress up dress and...........

a guitar!!!!!!!!!!!

We surprised Mimi with a new "Mimi" bracelet with all of our birthstones on it. She had lost hers a month before!!

It was a Tradition Homes Christmas, as well. Daddy had lots of Tradition Homes shirts and pullovers made for gifts. Great marketing scheme, Daddy!!!!

My favorite part of the entire Christmas season, was the Christmas Eve service at church. We have never attended before, but you girls were asked to dance in worship time with several other sweet, sweet girls. What an honor! It brought tears to my eyes...it was a beautiful time of praise to our Lord for HIS AMAZING gift of Jesus to our world.

The Herrings even joined us for the service and dinner at Mammi and Big Daddy's after. Truly, a most treasured night!!

I wish my camera had done better, but it was dark. This is the only picture I got of you all dancing.

Our tradition on Chritmas Eve is to eat Turkey Hash at Mammi and Big Daddy's (this is Daddy's favorite Christmas event because of the hash!!). It sure felt different without the Dominguez crew!!

It was books for Caleb's first Christmas!

Here you are, buddy, at our annual Christmas morning breakfast (that has now moved to April and Dylan's house) with your Cub stocking cap. Love it!!!

This was the BIG deal this year and you girls had NO IDEA!! We planned a Disneyworld trip for February, but we wanted to save it and tell you for part of your gift. After our wonderful brunch, we gathered around the computer and skyped Amy and Mariana. (We had worked this all out with Amy earlier). I had each of you unwrap a box. In yours, Caitlyn, was written the words, "We are..." and yours Caroline, the words, "going to" and Amy had done the same for Mariana and in her box were the words "DISNEY WORLD!!"

This was you watching Mariana open hers and realize what was happening........

You both cried!!! It was so sweet!!!

Another of my favorite traditions is when Mr. Davis comes over with his French horn and plays a bunch of classic Christmas carols. We will miss this "concert" one day when he is gone!

I had to capture this moment on film. We taught you both how to play one of our family's favorite games...Phase 10. You both learned quickly and spent several hours playing it over the break.

At New Years, we have one last celebration with the Manchester folks. Here you are with cousin Shane. He and his wife Tammy are expecting a little girl in the spring!! We are so happy for them!!

We love Bradley, Thomas and Lillianne! You are all so close in age, it makes getting together easy and loads of fun!

Dear Sara and Brian!

This picture brings a smile to my face. Aunt Rhonda was diagnosed with cancer this year and has gone through chemo, radiaiton and surgery. She has had some very difficult days, but has kept her humor and radiant smile. She is one of my favorite ladies in the whole world and we pray 2011 will bring her much health and peace!!!

So, as we move forward to a new year, we think back on this year of 2010 with gratefulness and reflection on all the Lord continues to do for us. We are blessed beyond measure!

Wrapping it up!! December Part 1

We start early....decorating, baking, making lists, shopping (well, I wish I started that early!) and singing carols....yet it always seems to fly by! This year was no exception. The holiday season was full of family, food, gifts and celebrations. You girls get into it more every year and your excitment and joy is contagious. Here is Caroline's list. I TRULY love the month of November. I love that our country takes aside a time to consider our blessings and say THANK YOU!! The hustle and bustle of December will soon be upon us, but this month feels so much simpler and focused on the purpose of being grateful...an attribute,that when focused on, changes your entire perspective.

Caroline, your field trip was canceled in October for rain, so the school arranged for us to go to Gentry's farm the first of the month. Here you are, with your sweet new LES friends, Sarah Grace and Yasho at the class picnic.

I just love your class this year, Caroline. We have met such neat families and oh, how we ADORE Mrs. Adcox....what a fine lady!!! Here I go with my thankfulness....I am so grateful that both of my girls started off their elementary years with her!!!

You two CONTINUE to adore your brother and want to "help" all the time!!! I love both of these shots I caught this month. Caleb, enjoy this loving now...I'm sure it won't always be this way (although...you girls could surprise me!!!)

We took a weekend trip (Caleb's first) with Mammi to Memphis. We wanted the Collier and Smith gang to meet Caleb AND we wanted to say goodbye to the Smiths...they are moving to ITALY!!! WE can't wait to hear all about their adventures. We just keep adding to our list of SKYPE friends!!!

Caroline, the Kindergartners do a Thanksgiving program. You were a pilgrim woman and it was such a precious play! I love that your school (even though it is a public school) talks about God in this program. Yet, another reason to be thankful!!!!!

We did a lot of cooking this month...at the moment, I don't remember exactly what we were making, but I liked this shot. I have a strong feeling you were trying to tell Caitlyn what to do, Caroline, but it looks like you two are in deep conversation while you work away.....

The only group shot I got at Thanksgiving this year...I must have been too busy eating...or feeding!!! We actually celebrated twice..once in Springfield and here, at Mammi and Big Daddy's. I failed to get a picture of this, too, but Daddy and I ran in the Boulevard Bolt Thanksgiving morning. Daddy has been running for two years, but it was my first "race" in over 6 years and I survived!!! We want to start doing it as a family as you all get older.

Caleb, you and Price are finally starting to "notice" one another. Price loves to touch you...you aren't so sure...

October-Celebrations

Celebrations was the one word that kept coming up as I was loading pictures for this month of October. We celebrated that the days got cooler, we celebrated Caleb's growth, we celebrated Caroline turning SIX, we celebrated fall and we celebrated one of your favorite holidays...Halloween!!!
Our new friend, Kira, began swimming lessons with Caleb....having the pool is wonderful, but it makes me NERVOUS!! You girls are very safe and careful and swim well, but "little man" may be a fearless one. Daddy and I wanted to make sure he learns as soon as possible. It really is amazing how the little ones take to the water!

September--Saying goodbye and more changes!

One thing is for certain...change is inevitable. It will never come easy for me....even good change is hard, but I am learning that with every change comes an opportunity for growth and thankfulness.
September brought a lot of change and, some changes were easier than others....like Caleb sleeping in his crib (it took you a lot longer to "like" your bed than I anticipated), which brought more sleep to my eyes!! Some were extremely hard....saying goodbye to the Dominguez crew in some ways felt like a heartache, yet we all KNOW it is RIGHT and in God's plan!!! They had made the decision last summer to move to Cancun, Mexico to be able to be closer to Uncle Leoncio's family and for him to take a job with his brother in law. We have been so blessed to lived in the same city with our entire family for so long...
We spent the beginning of the month partying with friends and family to send them off with blessings and love. We spent as much time with them those last days as possible. It was SUCH a bittersweet time!

Caleb, you continue to change sooo quickly. I am truly trying to embrace every day with you...I know now how fast it goes! You are enjoying your big sisters so much and love to have them read to you. You are beginning to play with toys, but still LOVE to be held. You are such a delight to our whole family, sweet boy!!!

Within a week of the Dominguez crew arriving in Mexico, we figured out Skype. What a wonderful (and FREE) invention. We love talking and SEEING them this way!!! A true joy of living in an age of telecommunication!

August brought a little more sleep to my eyes, which meant a little more time to play!! And that we did...the last days of summer were spent playing (especially with cousins), swimming, and getting together with friends and family. Caleb, your jaundice finally went away completely and your smiles, coos and cuddles erased the "difficult days" in my mind!!! Oh, what a cuddle bug you are. Aunt Amy gets some loving!!!

Caitlyn, here you are on your first day of 2nd grade. You have Mrs. Dodd this year. We have heard excellent things about her!! It was the smoothest transition you have had, yet, at the start of school. You were so ready to get back and see your friends. You are getting so independent, too! Most days you won't even let me do your hair anymore. Oh, slow down, princess!!!

Oh Caroline, we were so thrilled to get Mrs. Adcox again for your Kindergarten teacher. Caitlyn loved her and you already do, too!!! This will be her last year to teach, so we are happy to be in her "last class". You had a slow start to school, even though you were so ready to get there. New experiences are still hard for you, but you are doing soooo well. I am so proud of you, big girl!!

There's my precious boy!!! You are finding your hands and feet and are still such a good nurser. You are still sleeping in our room and we finally had to put you on your tummy to sleep, but we are doing sooo much better...going sometimes 5-6 hours at a time!!

August also brought the beginning of the "goodbyes" for the Dominguez crew. Amy's best friends, Paula Renteria and Lisa Bowden came in for a long weekend to be with all of us before the big move occurs in September. We celebrated Lisa and your birthday (early) so we could have Mariana there.

Dear friends.............

Aunt Amy met Lisa in college. She is Miss Andrea Miller's sister. They grew so close and she became so dear to me, as well. The four sisters used to spend many special days together in college before we all married and moved far away from one another. She is one of the sweetest people I believe I will ever meet!!!!!!!!!! An angel....

Aunt Paula (as she is known by our crew) was Aunt Amy's college roomate and friend during Amy's last two years at Harding. After college, Paula would come to Nashville and spend many holidays with our family. She has become family after all these years. She lives and teaches in Arkansas, but we are still trying to get her to move "home". They both treasured meeting and loving on you, Caleb.

July (Part 2)..crafts, some more firsts and dancing!

Soon after summer began, the two of you came up with the idea to have "a club"...you went into every detail of what you wanted it to be, wrote out schedules and sent invites. We ended up doing several here at the house (they each just lasted 1 and 1/2 hours) throughout the summer. Here are a few pix of the "Craft Club". We painted jewlery boxes that day.

I have come to the resolve that I am going to have to "let go" and be behind on blogging for now. I so wanted to do a week by week blog of the summer, but as I QUICKLY learned...nothing is going to get done like I want it to for a long while!!! One of the many lessons I am learning as a "new" mommy again is letting go of my control and letting my Heavenly Father lead my day. Oh, I needed to be molded and reminded of that again!!! So...in an effort to live in the moment more, I am going to do a recap by month of our summer. Maybe...maybe I will be able to update more often in a few months....here's to positive thinking!!!

I'm smiling as I write these words.............introducing our son, Caleb Daniel Green, to the world is my honor and joy!!! Welcome sweet little boy. A boy...still hard to believe you are ours and that you are a BOY!! Life will never be the same, will it?!
I am so thankful God knew we needed you. There were many days over the last five years that I wondered if I could do it again.....yet, the entire time I felt that my heart was not complete. I told God time and time again I would be done and be at peace if that was HIS WILL, but I also told him I felt a hole. I asked HIM to be the one to decide if it needed filling with a child or something else. HE showed me my answer in YOU, precious child. May you always know you were PRAYED FOR and WANTED. Your timing in our lives is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here I am the night before we went in to induce my labor. It was Memorial Day. I had never been induced, so I was pretty nervous, but very ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at that tummy!! (I think you were ready, too)!

Here I am, the morning of June 1st, before I really started hurting (and before my epidural). I was soo excited to meet you. My labor went very quickly...they started the medicine about 6AM and you were here at 10:44AM!

Here we are, at the end of the school year already! Whew. What a year it has been. With me working three days a week, it went faster than any other year has gone. It's hard to believe I will have a 2nd grader and a Kindergartner this fall!!! I was thankful to be able to wrap things up this month and have a little time with both of you before our lives really do change with Caleb's birth. The 1st graders always put on a musical play at the end of the year. You were goldilocks, Caitlyn, and did SUCH a great job!!! Here you are with Momma and Papa Bear...the whole play centered around finding baby bear.

Here are some pictures of the "flood" Nashville went through the first weekend in May. This is the street at our driveway. We have NEVER seen the little creek get this high.

This was up the road aways. The rain caused a mudslide to occur. Our road was closed for several weeks, until workers could get to it and clean it up.

Dear "Miss" Amanda....what a precious teacher she has been to you (and to mommy!). Thank you, Otter, for the memories and lessons learned. On to LES and Kindergarten, Caroline!!!! You will love it, babe.

We decided to plant a garden again...such a favorite springtime activity. We went to the Farmer's Market and picked out our plants, then had to wait for a sunny day to plant them. It sure has been one rainy spring!!!

This year we have cucumbers, tomatoes, cantaloupe, raspberries, green and red peppers, basil, strawberries, and sunflowers. We'll see how it goes.............

This was at Daddy's most recent softball game. We haven't been able to go to as many as normal, due to the busyness of life. This was an early game preceded by a picnic with the Laytons.

A Marathon, A Wedding (lots of rain) and Mother's Day!

The month of April and the beginning of May were filled with activities!!! The first of many was the Country Music Marathon. Daddy and several of his friends had been training for months for the race. This is Daddy's fourth half marathon. We were so proud of him. The morning of the race, it was supposed to rain. I just knew we would be out there under umbrellas and soaked watching him, but the rain held off until he finished. It really was perfect!!! Here we are, waiting on the guys to run past us. There were over 30,000 in this race!!!

A few weekends later, you girls were in Travis and Amy's wedding. They had asked you (and Mariana and three other little girls) back in the winter and we have been counting down the days. They chose to be married downtown at the Capital Square. WHAT a cool place!!! We had never been there, but will be going back. It is a huge grassy field in front of the Capital with fountains and lots of room to run. We had a picnic to show you where you would be and to practice. Note for memory sake..........the square sits just above the Cumberland River (which flooded downtown the day after the wedding).

The night before at rehersal. It was a gorgeous night. We had all been watching the weather all week........they had been calling for rain. You would have NEVER known what the weekend would have held by comparing it to Friday night.

You girls were enthralled with every part..............it was so neat that Big Daddy got to do the ceremony, too!!!!!

The day of the wedding was FULL of rain.........we watched as the creek in front of our house filled and spilled over into the road......we wondered if the wedding would even happen. Even that day, Nashvillians knew it was the most rain we had seen in years. BUT........amidst a flooded weekend that Nashville will never forget, a most precious union occured of two amazing people.

The wedding ended up being under a tent, on the Capital Square. The rain lightened up just as the ceremony started, so we could hear the ceremony. It really was perfect. You girls did great...it all came together so beautifully!!!

Easter 2010

Getting bigger.........here we are, Caleb, at 8 months. It's hard to believe we are getting close to the end!!!!!!

We love Easter time around here!!! The warmer weather begins, the colors begin to reemerge and we get to celebrate JESUS again!!! Here we are at Mammi's the Monday night before Easter Sunday with cousins...ready to go hunt for eggs!!

Dying eggs with Mammi has become a tradition..........

Otter Creek always has an Easter egg hunt the Saturday before Easter. It rained early that morning, but stopped in time for us to still go out to the playground and hunt for eggs.

This year we attended the "Ressurection Walk" at Woodmont Hills...I hope it becomes a tradtion, too. It takes you through the last supper and last day of Jesus' life. Each station has an action to perform and a "take home item" to remind you of what Jesus went through. Here you are, Caitlyn, getting your feet washed...just as Jesus did to his disciples the night before he died.

Here you are with Mammi at the cross...you actually got to hammer a nail in. We talked about how hard it must have been for him to go through this, but he was able to do it because of his GREAT love for us!!!!!!!

I am getting some time to play a little unexpected "catch up" today!!! Just so we will remember, it has rained in Nashville a total of over 10 inches in the last 36 hours. We have been lucky, but sooo many people we know are dealing with flooding or roofs that are leaking. It is unlike anything we have ever seen...the news says it is the most rain this city has seen, in this short a time, in over 50 years!! The interstates have even been shut down in parts of town due to the level of water rising. So....we have been pleasantly "stuck" at home the last two days (but did get out for a fabulous wedding last night....which I will blog about another time!).

T-ball has been your newly selected activity, Caroline. This is the first organized sport either of you girls have chosen to try. You have been soooo excited about it and from the day we signed up, asked me EVERY day when your first game was. The day of your first day came, and you were dressed and ready as SOON as school was over. However, around 5:00--an hour before we were supposed to play, you fell asleep. I couldn't bring myself to wake you up, until we absolutley had to go.

Some highlights for me during the first game were 1.) NO ONE moved in the outfield when the other team hit their first ball (you all just watched the ball roll!!!) and 2.) one of your team members hit the ball and ran to third base!!! We have enjoyed watching sooo much. I do think if this is a sport you continue to play, you could be very good at. We'll see........

The week before Easter, I got the privilege of being apart of your class Easter party, Caroline. It was held at Carson Zhetner's grandparents house and we could not have ordered a better day!! It was gorgeous.

You chose to wear the dress Mimi made for you for your birthday. You got to walk out and parade for all the parents. You said you were nervous, but you didn't look it to us!! We were very proud of you!!!

I'm still trying to play catch up. I just can't seem to find the energy to stay up late and blog....sorry to be soo far behind!!! Hopefully, one day when you read all this, girls, you will care more that momma just got pictures than you do that I was prompt in my timeline!!!
Caitlyn, you started taking horseback riding lessons back in the fall. I was too sick to go and am just now getting some pictures of you and Mr. Jim. He is a sweet and patient man that loves to teach. You are one brave girl...sometimes a little too brave...you scare me quite a bit!!! This is one GENTLE horse!!! I was a nervous wreck at this point, but Mr. Jim says this is great for building confidence...as long as it is on the right horse!!!!

Caroline, you were more interested in the barn cat...I loved this sweet moment. You don't care much about horses.......I think their size scares you.

We celebrated Mariana's 4th birthday at the roller skating rink. This was a first for you both. Daddy and I had not skated in over 15 years either. We went early on a Saturday morning when they have open skate for beginners. They let adults out on the rink in shoes to help little ones learn. It was so much fun!!!!! Big Daddy was a great teacher!

Another"first" we took part in recently was the Spring 5k fundraiser for Lipscomb Elementary. We weren't able to go last year because we were out of town. It was also so much fun!! You girls and Daddy made it the whole way...I took up the rear and took my sweet time...enjoying the scenery.

There was a dinner and lots of jumpers and games after the race. Here is one of your 1st grade friends, Gabriella. Caroline, I loved how "into" everything you got, too. You are sooo ready to be there next year. We already love and are so thankful for LES!!!!!

We got to attend your last spring program at Otter Creek last week, Caroline (wipe a tear!). What a precious, precious 5 years we have shared with the ladies of OC preschool with both you and Caitlyn!! I will MISS that place soooo much next year........but so thankful little Caleb will get the chance to experience it in 3 short years!! This year's theme was Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes. Here was the stage decorations.

You all sang three sweet songs...we had heard bits and pieces of them around the house days before.

I so wish my camera did better in the fellowship hall...I have never gotten a great picture of an OC performance...they always turn out so dark. You looked adorable in your green! (I told Daddy that day that it is time for a new camera, for sure!!! Having Caleb is a wonderful excuse!!!)

Mr. Russ came up at the end and sang songs with you and included us, the audience. I really did tear up when we all sang "Do you love Jesus?"

Your audience........Papa, Mimi, Mammi and Big Daddy (minus Daddy and I!) You were tickled to have all your grandparents there just for YOU!

It's, of course, too cold to open the pool yet, but we allowed you and Caitlyn to hop in the hot tub one warm evening last week..............soooooo fun!!!!!!!!! We are soooo happy to see you again, Mr. Sunshine!!!

Annual Gatlinburg Trip and Caitlyn's Birthday!

Each year in the winter we begin getting excited about and counting down the days until our annual Family Gatlinburg trip. We take off on a long weekend for some lazy days in the mountains, full of............ Lots of relaxing and naps.........

This year was slightly different because sweet Josue' got sick with a tummy bug that he lovingly gave to several of us........we were a bit more on edge and reclusive because of that, but still managed to make some great memories.

One of my favorite memories was celebrating your 7th birthday while we were there. You had been talking about wanting a surprise party, so Daddy took you out shopping one morning while I went and got a cake and balloons. We had brought up gifts for you, as well. We all hid and when you and Daddy came in, we jumped out and yelled "surprise!". You cried (out of joy!)...it was a precious moment for me and Daddy!

It's so hard (I know I say this each year) to believe you are seven. You are growing way to fast! You continue to be our girly girl...full of desires to dress up, play princess, and do hair, nails and make up. You even are beginning to take an interest in BOYS....ugh. Since starting school you have grown up in the ways you talk and think. We have really good conversations, when you are in the mood to talk. You are becoming increasingly more independent in what you can do and help with around the house. I tell you a lot that you are becoming a "little lady" and you smile. You are still very persistent...especially when it is something you want to do. You don't give up and are a smart negotiater. You have become a wonderful reader and speller. Your friends continue to be very important to you and most days, you would choose to be with friends over family (and I have to remind myself that is normal and good). We are so proud of you and love watching your mature and develop.

Another theme of the weekend was holding and loving over our newest Gatlinburg member...Price. He is growing so much and is so sweet!!!!!!!!! Next year, he will be walking around!

Your birthday desire was to go ice skating. I wish more of us could have been there. I stayed in the cabin (as did most others) helping to take care of Caroline who got the "bug". You and Daddy had a fun time with Mimi, Papa and Big Daddy watching.

Caroline, you and I enjoy "our days" on Tuesdays. I realized these are coming to an end quickly. One of the things you ask to do regularly is to go see Granny. My heart swells that you want to be with her and visit. She doesn't know who we are anymore, but it sure does make her happy to have us with her!!! I pray you and Caitlyn have memories of her when you are older.

Finally, Caleb, you are growing like crazy and are a mover already!!! You girls love to feel brother and watch my tummy roll. Here we are at 6 1/2 months.

I realized the other day I had not blogged AT ALL for the month of February.... so here is just a recap of part of our month.
I cherish that you still LOVE to dress up! I know the time is coming for it to end (at least in pretty princess dresses.......you'll probably always like to "dress up"), so I enjoy being a spectator of all your "imaginary" play these days. Three beauties..........

The first Sunday of each month, Otter Creek celebrates birthday Sunday. You and Paisely share the same birthday month and I got the privilege of helping in Kid's worship that Sunday, so stole a quick picture while I was with you!

We sure have enjoyed our time at "Let it Shine" gymnastics and, Caroline, you have learned so much! You decided you wanted to try t-ball this spring, though, so we are going to take a break from gymnastics for awhile.

You sure did love "Miss" Tabby. She was a wonderful teacher and encourager.

We took our annual trip to Gatlinburg and celebrated Caitlyn's 7th birthday while we were there at the end of the month. More to come on that soon...............

Wrapping up the month

January is always a more calming month than December....a welcome time for dear old mom!!! This year has been no different. We have spent a lot of time indoors...dressing up, having friends over, trying new recipes, watching movies and reading. It has also been one of the coldest and snowiest months in years. We have enjoyed getting out of school and work and playing in the snow. Ashlyn and Caroline

It was definitely time for haircuts, too. The tangles were driving all of us crazy!!!

We've had two snows this month. The first was only about 1 and 1/2 inches, but this last one was a doozy (for Nashville anyway!). We got close to 4-5 inches and it has lasted several days. School has already been closed for 2 days. You girls have gotten to experience true sledding this year!

We found out today the two of you will be big sisters to a BROTHER!!!! We are all so surprised and excited. He looked beautiful and was a mover already!!! Daddy and I have had a boy name picked out for 8 years now...Caleb Daniel. I don't know if either of us realized how MUCH we were hoping it was a boy until they told us. God is so good and his timing and wisdom is perfect. Thank you, Thank you Lord for choosing US for this little boy of yours!!!

I want to do better abour writing things down you two say...you keep us laughing so much and I KNOW I won't remember one day the funny things you say.

Caroline, you and I were talking about the baby the other day while cooking in the kitchen. I was telling you that the baby's ears are formed now and he or she can hear what we say. Your mouth dropped open and you said, "Can I say something to the baby?". "Sure!" I said and leaned towards you. You put your face right up to my tummy and said, "BABY...I want you to be a boy!"

Caitlyn, you came home from school on Tuesday and your sister was upstairs watching TV. When you got in, you asked where she was. I answered that she was upstairs and asked if you wanted me to go get her. You looked at me and said, "Oh, no, momma...I just want some peace and quiet!!"

Caroline, we were making quesadillas the other night and you were helping. You were spooning out some tubbed butter into the skillet. As you did you said with excitement, "Mommy! Now I know how they get the yellow in the egg...they just put butter in it!!!" I laughed so hard. I wasn't sure who "they" were, but you sure seemed sure about your findings!!

In an effort to get caught up, I am selecting just a few photos from SEVERAL events over the last two months. With mommy being so sick, I have had to lean HARD on other people to help me manage all I have on my plate. Friends and family have been soooo gracious and helpful during this time with calls, encouraging notes, FOOD, and prayers. Grandmommas and Daddy have played my role in your lives over the last two months. I will forever be grateful for the help and love. Both of you had Fall Field Trips. Caitlyn, Mimi went with you to Walden Farm and she took some great pictures that we will put in albums. Caroline, Daddy went with you to Gentry's Farm. He was the only Dad there...thanks, babe!!!! It was a great day to be outside.........

In the month of November at chuch you discussed teamwork. The challenge was to raise $1000 dollars as a group in order to purchase 100 mosquito nets for children sponsered by Compassion International. You all wanted to earn your money by having a Lemonade Stand. We went to Mammi and Big Daddys, made signs, lemonade and cookies and had a great time!! You earned $60 to go towards the project. Daddy and I were so proud of you!

Thanksgiving is my favorite season. I wish we had more time for it because of what it stands for. I love hearing what you are grateful for. We have sooo much to thank God for!!! Every year, it seems to get more and more overshadowed by Christmas. Here we are below on Thanksgiving night at Mammi and Big Daddy's taking our annual Dozier family picture. The family just keeps growing!!!

Fall Florida Trip

Each year in September or October we head down to Destin, Florida for a 4-5 day trip. It is highly anticipated ALL YEAR!!! This was our 4th year to go with Mimi and Papa. We decided to wait and use your Fall Break this year, Caitlyn, so it was later in October. We always eat at the Donut Hole the first morning ..............

Then head to the grocery to do our grocery shopping................

Because it was later in the month, it was MUCH cooler. We only made it out to the beach two days this year. We tried to make those days stretch and spent several hours out playing in the sun.

Caitlyn, you continue to be the water girl. You stayed in the water most all day....

Caroline, you tend to be our sand girl and spent a lot of time building sand castles and collecting shells. Mommy spent A LOT of time sitting in this chair and taking pictures. I had just begun to feel really nauseated from the little "sprinkle" in my belly. The two of you didn't know at this point...it was really hard not to tell you why I was sitting and doing "nothing" most all week!!!

There were tons of jelly fish this time....here is Papa pointing a big one out to you, Caroline. We had to really watch out!

WE LOVE TO BIKE RIDE!!! This is our favorite thing we do while there. It was cool, but we headed out anyway one morning. Caroline, you got to be the very first child to try their new double bike contraption. You were nervous at first, but ended up having a ball. Caitlyn, this was your first year to ride your very own bike, big girl!! Since Daddy is training for the half marathon, he ended up running beside of all of us instead of biking.

How can you be five?

This was a hard one for me...my baby turning five years old. Five just isn't little anymore in so many ways....and your five came sooo quickly, Caroline. You were JUST born it seems. In these last five years, you have brought us more joy and laughter to fill a lifetime. You are our sensitive, humorous, busy, compassionate and perceptive little girl. You enjoy girly things, but can hang with the boys, too. You love to do what Caitlyn does...wonder how long that will last? You also LOVE to irritate her, too...the job of a little sister, I suppose. You like to try new things, even if they are difficult. You still enjoy helping me cook and love to sample anything sweet!!!
Speaking of sweet, we decided for your birthday this year to celebrate at breakfast time at a new place...the Funky Griddle. We had heard about how neat it was and wanted to try it.

You get to cook your own pancakes on a griddle at your table. We had to wait awhile to get a table, but it was well worth it. They put us out on the screened in porch, where we had plenty of room and space to celebrate!! Mammi, Big Daddy, Mimi and Papa joined us, as well as Josue' and Mariana.

Your favorite were the ones we made with M&Ms inside.......mmmmm...that's my sweet tooth girl!!!

I know...I've never gone this long between posts before. BUT...there is a reason. I have felt overwhelmed and quite under the weather for several weeks now. We finally spilled the beans this weekend................ We're having a baby!!!!!!!!!!!

But, you came around!!!! We've got a long time to wait, but are super excited and thankful beyond words.

Caitlyn had spirit week last week. Caroline, you decided (even though Otter wasn't having spirit week...) to have your own! One day was miss-match day. Caitlyn, you wouldn't pose for a picture, but Caroline sure loved going along with it!!!

The last day was crazy hat day. We didn't have crazy hats, but we had these sweet "Princess" ones, given to us by Aunt Amy. And... of course, like monkey see, monkey do!!

Well, the more relaxed days of summer are gone and we are living the more scheduled life of school and work. It's definitely taken some getting used to. I know in many ways, more gets done when we live with a "routine", but I must admit I often fight against it...and so do the two of you. So...in hopes of helping us get out the door, be on time, and have some more harmony and flow when we are home, I put some new things in place. We've only been doing it now for a few weeks, but I do think it is helping us stay focused.

I wanted to record this, so one day, we all could look back and smile on these days.........

Empty out school bag (and lunchbox) and put away

At each time of the day, when you have completed your "jobs" you are allowed to watch TV or get on the computer (something that had gotten out of hand). Also, if you accomplish these (I think very reasonable tasks) with good attitudes , you earn a "Diamond Dollar" the following morning. If in a two week period (minus weekends--we have to have a break sometime!) , you can earn eight Diamond Dollars, you are allowed to invite a friend over (a huge treat!).

Our weekly schedule:
Mondays- Momma works and Daddy takes you to school in the morning. Mimi picks you both up from school and brings you back home until Momma or Daddy arrives. Most Monday afternoons, we go to Mammi and Big Daddy's for a family dinner. You love this time, especially playing with Mariana and Josue'.
Tuesdays-Caroline, you and I take Caitlyn to school and then go to gymnastics. I allowed each of you to pick one activity to do this year, and you chose a class at Let it Shine Gymnastics. Its so fun to watch you learn. We usually run errands, have appointments, or just stay home together. What a sweet memory this will be for you and I!
Wednesdays-I take both of you to school and either have some time alone (Which I love and value!) or spend the day with Aunt Amy and Josue'. Us mommy's need some rejuvenating time often! I pick both of you up from school these days. Wednesday nights we go to church. We had gotten out of the habit of doing this last year with dance, and it has been nice to be doing this together again.
Thursdays-I work these days, so I meet Mimi in the school parking lot with both of you early, so she can take Caitlyn into school and then she spends the day with you, Caroline. We are so thankful to have family to help us out sooooo much!!! Mimi and Caroline pick you up, Caitlyn, then bring you home. Daddy and I usually get home around 5:30.
Fridays- I work this day, too, but don't have to be there until 9:30, so get to take you both to school. Sometimes, I can't leave work until 2:30, so you get to go to extended care, Caroline, which you LOVE!! We hang out at the Purple Cow and get an icee and then it's off to get sister. I love Fridays, b/c it means the weekend is coming!!! Weekends are so anticipated!!! Weekends are never the same, but one thing we are trying to fit in every other weekend is a horse riding lesson for you, Caitlyn (your chosen activity). I love that you wanted to try this. I have struggled a bit with my fear of you getting hurt, but I know this is not the first time I will have to "trust and let you go!" We try to let Sundays be family days...church, out to eat, and just hanging out together in some way before the week starts up again.
Daddy has been training for a 1/2 marathon amidst all of this and I am just trying to finish a book and keep our underwear clean!!!

Day trip!

A few weekends ago Aunt Bela and I talked about going on a journey with you girls and Lucas. We have had plenty of playdates, but never been on a trip together. Aunt Bela had a great idea....a day trip to Chattanooga and the Aquarium. We left Daddy at home working and Uncle Virgil kept Cameron. We woke up EARLY and met at Cracker Barrel for a delicious pancake breakfast. You have to sit for awhile on the frontporch in the rockers at Cracker Barrel!!

It is SUCH a treat to watch a movie in the car...ready for Nemo!!!

Chattanooga has such a cute downtown. The three of you enjoyed playing outside the aqaurium almost as much as being inside. Here you are jumping the fountains outside and playing on some of the walls and green space.

I had not been to the aquarium in over 12 years...they have added a lot in that time. You all were captivated by all of it! I was in awe again of the power and imagination of God as He has created such an ellaborate world under the waters of the world with such interesting colors and life.

We ate lunch under a bridge while listening to live music by a one man band. It was even cool on this August day!!! What a gorgeous summer we have had!!!

In some ways, this is how we all felt getting up early last week to start another year. The laid back days of summer are soooo nice!!! It's never easy starting something new and this year was no different. We had not thought too much about school with the Millers being here and it really crept up on us. Caitlyn, you hadn't said a lot about it until we put you to bed the night before your first day. I'm sure some of it was nerves and some was just from being overtired, but you cried yourself to sleep. We talked in depth about how the school routine would soon seem so normal again and about all the new things you will learn this year (reading and math especially) and about all the new friends yet to be made. It took you all of one day to get your smile back about being at school and in the 1st grade!!!

Caroline, you on the otherhand, couldn't wait to start school. You get to be in the exact same room as last year, just with a new teacher. Here you are on Snoopy Day with "Miss" Amanda. We love her already!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this picture! You are such a big girl, now...my pre-kindergartener!!! The biggest change for you is that, instead of just going two days, you are now going three. It's so hard to believe I will be dropping you both off next year five days a week. Oh....mercy, I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's just get started and enjoy this year!!!! Stay in the moment, momma!!!

End of summer treat!

We ended the summer with a WONDERFUL visit from our college friends, Matt and Andrea Miller, and their crew. We met Matt and Andrea in college and developed a very deep and close friendship. We spent many birthdays and holidays together before and after we were married and still living in Searcy. They became like family to us. Their hearts were stirred in college to prepare for foreign missions and have been living in Togo, West Africa for almost 10 years. In that time, they have had four beautiful children....the newest of whom we had not met yet. We have seen each other about every two years since they have been gone and it is always like a family reunion. You loved being with them, girls! It was non stop fun!!! Five of the six of our kiddos waking up in the morning....Abby, Asher, Caroline, Anna Marie and Caitlyn.

Anna Marie is the little princess who everyone wanted to "help". She is two and an absolute delight!

Andrea and I were able to sneak away for a "girls lunch" at the Puffy Muffin........such a treat! I continue to be amazed at Andrea's view of life and the way she handles things with such calm confidence.

Abby is now almost 11 and was such a wonderful example for you, girls. She was so sweet to let you hang out with her...and that you did...everywhere!!!!

We love you, Millers, and will be praying for you as you transition to your next venture in Rwanda. We respect and admire your dedication and courage more than you know! Two years will pass by before we know it!!!
